PRocess

Known for her work in encaustic, Yntema subtly develops these compositions through many additive layers of tinted beeswax.  Pigments are suspended within translucent layers, allowing light to become compositionally present; the paintings interact with light,  colors are not static. Within this series of paintings, original photography has been incorporated, bringing a contemporary platform to this ancient technique, obscuring the boundary between photography and painting. Ideals of memory and place, reality and truth are questioned.
